NVR Installation

When your network surveillance system (NVR (VioStor NVR), IP cameras, and PC are installed behind the router, virtual server, or firewall, you will have to configure port forwarding (port mapping) for VioStor NVR or some of the IP cameras that use particular ports for MPEG4 image compression. VioStor NVR supports streaming from network cameras or server. You can choose one of them according to the network environment. This article demonstrates a few examples about how to install the NVR in different network environment for remote monitoring.

You can install the NVR according to the following steps.

* Plan the network topology

* Write down the plan of the following items:
          ♦ The IP address and port of the NVR
          ♦ The IP address and port of the camera
          ♦ The IP address of the router and port forwarding (NAT) to allow remote monitoring over the Internet

* Install the IP camera

* Configure the router/ virtual server/ firewall to allow remote monitoring over the Internet
* Install and configure the VioStor NVR
          ♦ Please refer to the user manual of the VioStor NVR in the CD-ROM for the installation details.
